Shivani Shanmugadas, LSW has extensive experience in clinical assessment, crisis intervention, strengths-based therapy, psychotherapy modalities, and motivational interviewing.

During her clinical training at Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care, Shivani provided therapy to adolescents and adults, working closely with families to establish and achieve meaningful treatment goals. At the Center for Discovery in Bridgewater, Shivani worked with eating disorder patients using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), as well as Family Biopsychosocial Therapy, in the partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs.

Shivani brings a unique blend of clinical insight and rigor to her work, supported by her Master of Social Work from Rutgers University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology & Health from Rutgers University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She is known for being caring, creative, and collaborative, creating a safe space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to make lasting changes.

Shivani is especially passionate about helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, OCD, emotional regulation and trauma, and she tailors her approach to meet each person’s unique needs and strengths. She believes therapy works best as a partnership and is committed to walking alongside her clients with empathy, clarity, and care.
